How to size up a system?

  • This will determine how many batteries are needed?

    What equipment will need to be supported if the power goes down. Is it medical equipment, security system, or computer system and servers? Add this all together.

    There will be two measurements. Discharge in Ah, or Discharge in Watts per cell.

    If only amps are listed:

    Watts = Volts × Amps

    Make sure you add a 10-20% safety margin.

  • How long does the equipment need to run for if the system goes down?

    5–10 min (safe shutdown)

    30 min (short outage protection)

    1+ hour (business continuity)

    Runtime depends on:

    • Battery capacity (Ah)

    • Load percentage

  • How much space do you have to store the batteries? Front access allows easier maintenance and are specifically designed for an standard 19 inch rack .

  • Once you know your system voltage, your required run time, load and available space. We can then size up your system using either, 12volt, 6volt or 2 volt batteries.
